Deployment status
Launched globally with preorders on November 26, 2025; entered the US market on February 7, 2026 at the Spray Drone End User Conference in Kansas City. FCC-approved and sold through an authorized US dealer network — Fairbank Equipment shows in-stock but low, and Raptor Dynamic sells airframes and kits. Field-tested pre-launch in New Zealand, Bulgaria, South Africa and Australia. At company level: XAG reported 2025 revenue of RMB 1.166B (+9.5%) and net profit of RMB 124M (+75.9%), its second consecutive profitable year; 17.1% of the global agricultural drone market in 2024, ranked second, and 20.8% in China, also second behind DJI Agriculture at 63.9%. Products sell in 60 to 70+ countries through 1,100+ authorized sales, training and service points, serving 900,000+ farm households; paired smart farms grew from 2,300+ in October 2025 to 5,200+ by July 2026. The P Series has logged 9.3 million+ flight hours since 2022. Named deployments include roughly 3,000 P Series units and 1,000+ professional crop-protection crews on Xinjiang cotton defoliation, and licensed operator Kim Hein running 200 hectares of sugarcane at Seafield Farm, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Two risks belong on the record. First, XAG's Hong Kong IPO is NOT complete: a 2021 STAR Market filing was withdrawn in May 2022, an HKEX filing was made September 25, 2025, and a lapsed prospectus was refiled March 27, 2026. Founder Peng Bin said on July 6, 2026 that the company was still 'waiting in line.' No hearing or listing was found as of this check — XAG must not be described as HK-listed. Second, on August 5, 2026 China's MOFCOM imposed immediate case-by-case review on all drone shipments, key components and related technology to the United States, six months after P150 Max US sales began. A separate July 2026 FCC proposal targeting foreign drones with lidar and thermal imaging may partly miss the P150 Max, which uses mmWave radar rather than lidar, but the proposal text names agricultural spray drones explicitly. XAG is not currently on any US Entity List or Covered List.
When this hits the labor market
For manual knapsack spraying, the substitution is finished, not pending. Agricultural drones are 30 to 60 times more efficient than hand spraying, and rural China's actual constraint is that farms 'cannot recruit field workers under 50' — in many places the job emptied out before the machine arrived. China's national plant-protection drone fleet stood at 251,000 units in 2024, treating 2.67 billion mu-times a year, up 25%; the global spray-drone fleet passed 700,000 units by June 30, 2026. What deserves attention over the next three to five years is what happens to the NEW job, and it is the most important thing on this page. The licensed drone operator was, briefly, a good job: it requires a CAAC license covering aviation regulation, flight principles and meteorology; China had 194,400 valid licenses at the end of 2023; strong operators cleared RMB 300,000 a year and RMB 10,000+ months were routine in the spring planting season; XAG alone had trained 700,000+ operators and 7,000+ certified instructors by June 2026. Then service rates fell from RMB 10+ per mu to 5.5, to 4.5, to as low as 3.5. More decisively, as one-operator-two-aircraft and map-free flight lowered the skill floor, the ratio of professional operators to farmers operating their own machines moved from 9:1 to 5:5. The machine eliminated the sprayer, created the pilot, and then turned the pilot into low-rate piece work before handing the controls to the farmer. That last step is the part of the automation story almost nobody tells.

A quadcopter that puts an 80-liter tank in the air
The P150 Max is XAG’s flagship spraying drone for markets outside China: an 80-liter spray tank, a 115-liter spreader hopper, 80 kg maximum payload, 136 kg takeoff weight, 56 kg empty. Dual pumps and two centrifugal nozzles give a rated 32 L/min at a 5-to-10-meter swath. Positioning runs off an XRTK7 mobile station with PPP-AR satellite correction, holding hover to ±10 cm. Obstacle avoidance is a 4D imaging millimeter-wave radar with 1.5-to-100-meter range — no lidar. The 20,000 mAh B141050 battery recharges in seven minutes with the parallel charging kit.
Throughput is the selling point: 50 to 60 acres per hour sustained (about 20-24 hectares), 70 to 80 at peak. The number that matters more is the crew ratio — one operator flies two aircraft at once through XAG One 7.0.
Two things to flag. XAG’s spec sheet gives maximum flow as 32 L/min; the 46 L/min that appears in marketing copy is an upgraded nozzle configuration, and we use the spec-sheet figure. And endurance — XAG publishes no flight time for the P150 Max on any page we could reach, so we leave it blank rather than estimate.
One more thing that trips people up: XAG runs two divergent product lines. The international flagship is the P150 Max at 80 liters; the China-domestic flagship is the P200 2026 at 85 liters, which is not sold internationally. This entry covers the P150 Max.
The worker it replaces, and the job it created and then destroyed
Layer one: the person carrying a backpack sprayer. The most direct substitution, at a 30-to-60x efficiency gap. But there is a counterintuitive fact underneath it. Across much of rural China the machine did not push the worker out — the worker left first. The demographic reality is that farms cannot hire field labor under 50, and spraying is the most physically punishing job on the farm and the one with the most chemical exposure.
Layer two: the crop-dusting pilot. This is economic substitution, not technical. Helicopter application needs roughly 50 hectares a day to pencil out, while a great many growers actually need two or three hectares a week. Drones eat exactly the jobs a helicopter could never take. One controlled data point from South African sugarcane: drone application delivered 1% more recoverable sugar value than helicopter application.
Layer three: tractor boom-sprayer operators and seasonal farm labor. XAG’s US launch release is unambiguous about the pitch — American growers face labor “in short supply” and shrinking spray windows, and the P150 Max turns “workforce constraints into a solvable problem.” Trade headlines put it plainly: XAG Introduces P150 Max Agricultural Drone to Address Labor Constraints in U.S. Farming.
And then layer four, which is the one we actually want you to look at: the drone operator job itself.
The licensed agricultural drone pilot — fēishǒu — was the textbook example of automation creating a good new job. It required a CAAC license covering aviation regulation, flight principles and meteorology. China had 194,400 valid licenses by the end of 2023. Strong operators cleared RMB 300,000 a year, and RMB 10,000+ months were normal through spring planting. XAG alone had trained more than 700,000 operators and 7,000 instructors by mid-2026.
Then the price war arrived. Service rates fell from more than RMB 10 per mu to 5.5, to 4.5, to as low as 3.5. At the same time, one-operator-two-aircraft and map-free flight modes dropped the skill floor far enough that farmers could run the machines themselves — and the ratio of professional operators to owner-operators moved from 9:1 to 5:5.
That is the full arc. The machine eliminated the sprayer, created the pilot, commoditized the pilot into piece work, and then handed the controls to the customer. Under ten years, start to finish.
Why we care for LostJobs
The agricultural category in this catalog has had a tilt. Of nine entries, John Deere, Lely, Monarch, Carbon Robotics, Naïo and FarmDroid all point at large mechanized farms in North America and Europe. But the 700,000-unit global spray-drone fleet and China’s 2.67 billion mu-times of annual treated area are where the largest number of agricultural workers actually meet automation. XAG is the world’s second-largest maker in that market and was missing from this catalog. That is a head-of-market gap, not a long-tail one.
It also earns its own page because it runs the entire life cycle of the “automation creates new jobs” claim to completion — in under a decade. Most discussion stops at “old jobs go, new jobs appear,” and almost nobody asks what the new job is worth five years later. For XAG’s operators the answer is: from RMB 300,000 a year, to RMB 3.5 per mu piece rates, to employers discovering they don’t need to hire at all.
The portable lesson for anyone reading this page: when someone tells you automation will create new work, the question worth asking is not whether new jobs appear. It’s whether that new job will still require a license in three years, or whether by then the person who buys the machine can just do it themselves. The answer depends on which direction the skill floor is moving — and XAG’s published roadmap of one-operator-two-aircraft and map-free operation makes that direction very clear.
One last variable, unrelated to work but decisive for whether this machine remains buyable in the US: on August 5, 2026 China’s commerce ministry put all drone exports to the United States under case-by-case review, effective immediately. P150 Max US sales began in February 2026. We’ll keep this field updated.
