How Robots Are Reshaping Work

Samsung SDS entered the robot transformation business on September 8 with a 2027 orchestration platform. The load-bearing number is 430: the manufacturing clients already on its books.

XPeng started its humanoid robot line on September 8, with IRON walking off it after assembly. The load-bearing number is 80: the share of core processes on that line that run without a person.

Agility Robotics filed its S-4 on September 7, disclosing $1.8M in 2025 net sales and a $140M operating loss. The same document lists Digit v5 at about $8,500 a month.

A KOSDAQ disclosure on September 7 does what almost no automation contract does: it names the work. Busbar feeding, heat-staking, laser welding, electrical test, weld vision inspection, chained into one line.

The ARM Institute booked close to $90M from a Department of War modernization challenge, covering 10 projects at 12 military manufacturing sites. The named automation targets are energetics production, drone readiness and line bottlenecks. The people running those lines got named too.

Robot.com booked a seven-year commercial agreement with Sodexo, putting sidewalk delivery robots across North American college campuses. Sodexo runs about 400,000 employees globally and 120,000 U.S. full-timers, and Robot.com's CEO named it as a company that cannot fill its open roles.

Figure has raised a little under $2B in equity across its history. On September 3 it signed a compute deal worth $3.5B, expandable past $6B, from a cloud provider that is also becoming its shareholder. The bill for training a robot now exceeds the bill for building the company.

Tesla launched Cybercab in Austin on September 3: two seats, no steering wheel, no pedals, no physical way for anyone inside to take over. Texas's automated-vehicle registry hit 420 cars statewide the same day, while Tesla's own July disclosures showed paid robotaxi miles going in reverse, not up.

Lumos Robotics launched the MOS 2 on September 1. The load-bearing number is not the payload. It is the 1,000 failure-free hours the previous model logged on a live PLC line at Mitsubishi Electric's Changshu plant, after which Mitsubishi led the funding round.

A Reuters investigation published August 31 puts Chinese government purchases of humanoids and related gear at $230M in the first half, against $62M a year earlier and $6M in 2024. In the training center those purchases funded, an experienced operator produces one usable movement per 50 attempts, and the robots work at roughly 20% of human speed.

On August 28, Deere committed $10M over three years to Reservoir, the on-farm agtech incubator in California's Salinas Valley. The number that matters is not the $10M. It is 40% — how much robotic weeding has already cut labor cost in Salinas leafy greens.

Locus AMRs have assisted more than 6 billion picks. On August 28, the company's grasping lead drew the boundary: suction covers 60% to 70%, the remaining 30% to 40% needs pinch and touch, and touch is something 「simulated data is not going to help with very much」.
