On October 23, Generali said about 800 German positions will go by 2030, roughly 9% of staff, while committing over €100M to digital, AI and IT. No report we read ties the cuts to AI.

On October 23 the Telegraph told staff a formal consultation had begun, with up to 100 jobs reported at risk. The memo makes AI the destination and gives no savings figure, no headcount and no AI reason for the cuts.

On October 23, Volvo Cars reported a Q3 operating loss of SEK 5.6B and said about 2,500 roles will go worldwide, 2,000 of them in Sweden, alongside SEK 5B more in indirect and variable cost savings. The release does not mention AI.

On October 23 Unitree hit limit-up at 624 yuan, lifting its market cap back above 250B yuan. First-half revenue was 1.152B yuan, and its founder says it makes tens of thousands of robots a year.

Barclays said on October 22, alongside Q3 results, that it is cutting about 5,000 jobs this year, roughly 5% of staff, and press reports quote its statement tying the cuts to AI-driven efficiency. Pre-tax profit rose 12% to £2.3bn.

On October 22, Dow's CEO told analysts about 70% of the roughly 4,500 role reductions announced in January are done, with the phase substantially complete by year-end. The upsized 2026 target for Transform to Outperform is $700M.

Westpac has set more than 250 roles for redundancy since early October: 102 in risk, institutional banking and finance, then roughly 140 more across the bank. A spokesperson says AI is not the cause. The Finance Sector Union counts over 10,000 banking roles lost in two years.

On October 21 Reuters reported an eBay memo cutting about 9% of the workforce, the second round of 2026 after about 800 roles in February. The memo cites simplifying operations and shifting resources; AI is not mentioned.

Meta's Q3 release on October 21 reported 66,775 employees, down 15% in a year, against $64.6B of revenue, up 26%. Capital spending hit $34.91B in the quarter. The filing does not say AI drove the cut.

On its October 21 Q3 call Tesla said early production of Optimus has started on a high-volume line in Fremont. Musk put 20,000 units a week at least a year out and delivery to outside companies around the end of 2027.

A 21st Century Business Herald report of October 19 details the auto-parts feeding cell Leju Robotics and Zhaofeng launched on October 15: 15 humanoids at a Hangzhou plant, about 1,000 hours logged, 60,000+ parts handled, a 98% feed success rate, one engineer per four robots.

At a State Council briefing on October 19, MIIT's technology director Wei Wei said China's humanoid makers produced more than 40,000 units in the first half, from over 400 models, and that output will pass 100,000 for the year. He also said the ministry will build an industry monitoring system.
