Figure has raised a little under $2B in equity across its history. On September 3 it signed a compute deal worth $3.5B, expandable past $6B, from a cloud provider that is also becoming its shareholder. The bill for training a robot now exceeds the bill for building the company.

Tesla launched Cybercab in Austin on September 3: two seats, no steering wheel, no pedals, no physical way for anyone inside to take over. Texas's automated-vehicle registry hit 420 cars statewide the same day, while Tesla's own July disclosures showed paid robotaxi miles going in reverse, not up.

Lumos Robotics launched the MOS 2 on September 1. The load-bearing number is not the payload. It is the 1,000 failure-free hours the previous model logged on a live PLC line at Mitsubishi Electric's Changshu plant, after which Mitsubishi led the funding round.

A Reuters investigation published August 31 puts Chinese government purchases of humanoids and related gear at $230M in the first half, against $62M a year earlier and $6M in 2024. In the training center those purchases funded, an experienced operator produces one usable movement per 50 attempts, and the robots work at roughly 20% of human speed.

On August 28, Deere committed $10M over three years to Reservoir, the on-farm agtech incubator in California's Salinas Valley. The number that matters is not the $10M. It is 40% — how much robotic weeding has already cut labor cost in Salinas leafy greens.

Locus AMRs have assisted more than 6 billion picks. On August 28, the company's grasping lead drew the boundary: suction covers 60% to 70%, the remaining 30% to 40% needs pinch and touch, and touch is something 「simulated data is not going to help with very much」.

NSF named three new Science and Technology Centers on August 26. One goes to UT Austin to study what happens when assistive robots move into nursing homes, rehab hospitals, dorms and cafés. The new thing is not the money. It is the opt-out.

The number worth reading in the August 27 report is not $6B. It is where SoftBank's robot money has moved in eight weeks: out of the most famous robot company on earth, into driverless excavators, and now into a house robot whose chores are staffed.

Universal Robots' parent filed patent infringement against JAKA's German subsidiary at the UPC's Copenhagen division on August 27, targeting a broad range of cobot models sold in the EU. Four months ago the same playbook won an injunction in Hamburg.

Bedrock Robotics said on August 26 that its autonomous excavators are running on three live jobsites in Texas and Nevada with no operator in the seat. Mastering an excavator typically takes five years, and the tasks the machine has taken over are the first part of those five.

Under the draft, when full autonomy is switched on, the manufacturer handles the violation. The seat stops needing someone qualified to receive it.

Figure moved the training-data step off the payroll and onto a bounty sheet. Index took four months to collect 16 million uploads from 44,000 weekly contributors, has paid out $15M, and has $1B committed for the next 12 months.
