PagerDuty put two things in one release on August 27: ARR past $500M for the first time, and a workforce reduction of about 15%. The cut, the company said, hit non-customer-facing roles 「including support functions being automated」.

HP posted record third-quarter revenue on August 26 and raised full-year guidance. The 10-Q filed with it shows $547M already charged against a restructuring plan HP says is driven 「primarily through artificial intelligence adoption and enablement」.

Meta's May layoff of 10% was the first half of a two-wave plan code-named Project OT. Reuters published the documents on August 26. The second wave died the night before the first one landed, after Meta's own telemetry showed its AI agents were generating code without shipping product.

Bloomberg reported the cuts on August 21 and Apple confirmed them the same afternoon. Against a workforce in the hundreds of thousands, 200 is a rounding error. The shape is the story: this is not a cost reduction, it is a headcount transfer from one roadmap to another.

Pentera told staff on August 17 it is cutting about 60 more roles, 30 of them in Israel. The company says it is 「completing the transformation of the platform and making it AI-native」 and is still recruiting for AI teams.

An internal document says Oracle wants some teams cut by double digits before September 1, weeks after the company disclosed it had already eliminated 21,000 jobs and named AI as a cause.

Rapid7 packaged a 12% workforce reduction into the same August 10 filing as a profitable Q2. Three months earlier the company said GPT-5.5 in its Agentic SOC had cut false-positive queue times by 25%.

On the August 7 Q2 call, Scripps CEO Adam Symson gave analysts the year-to-date number: 432 positions eliminated plus 126 open roles pulled. The same day the company booked a $1.2B net loss and the shares climbed more than 20%.

The Wall Street Journal reported August 7 that ad measurement firm VideoAmp cut roughly 20% of staff, calling AI 「a major platform shift」. Sources put the count at 50 to 60 people, including the chief technology officer.

Challenger's July report shows layoffs at a two-year low and hiring at a four-year July high. AI still led the reasons for a fifth straight month, and the jobs coming back are not the jobs that left.

TikTok confirmed it is shutting its Nashville office and cutting 250 roles, some in content moderation. In the same company's Q1 report, 178 million of 184 million removed videos were caught by automated detection.

The WARN filings taking effect in August are a dairy co-op, Red Lobster, a youth center and FedEx couriers — almost none of them cite AI.
